EARTHQUAKE !

I experienced my first California Earthquake late last night. It was a 4.6 on the Richter scale and occured in the western part of the San Fernando Vally - Chatsworth to be exact. That's 17miles  (28kms) away and all that shaking woke me up! My head shot up and my eyes opened wide. What the heck was that! A belated welcome to life in California!

News from Switzerland

We've just heard from Switzerland that Duce's father, Zeno v. Glichenberg, has retired. His contribution to the Swiss Entlebucher is immense having produced numerous important litters.  Many of his children will carry on his legacy through the Swiss breeding program. Zeno will now spend many happy and peaceful days with Familie Franz Emmenegger in Emmenbrücke Switzerland.

We wish him a happy retirement and hope to see him soon......

West Hollywood Parade

Sunday, June 10th, was the annual West Hollywood Gay Pride Parade. The event takes place one half block away from my house so I got to witness my first parade ever. It was so much fun! I saw marching bands and colorful floats. There was lots of music and lots of noise. People drove their Harley Davidson motorcycles right in front of me and that did not bother me a bit. What did get me excited was the big red fire engine. I howled and howled along with the siren and all the onlookers thought that was pretty cool. My most favorite part of the parade was the Wells Fargo stagecoach drawn by four horses. I wanted to get out there with them and help them find their way down Santa Monica Boulevard. I jumped to my feet and started to head out into the street. I just don't see why no one understood that they really could have used my help! Maybe it was just as well. I never would have gotten very far in the sunshine. Luckily, I was able to sit under a tree while watching the parade so it wasn't necessary to complain all that much about the June heat. I made many friends at the parade who told me how good I was and how well behaved I was during the event. Shucks! It wasn't that big a deal. I loved all the excitment!

The Never-Ending Paris Saga

ENOUGH ALREADY!
Helicopters have been flying over my head since 5:00AM this morning. Traffic is backed up all over town. I am being held under HOUSE ARREST since it is impossible to travel anywhere because of all the paparazzi and police. The airways are full of nothing else but this garbage. No one wants to hear the sob story any longer nor do we believe anything about her 'condition'. California justice is the source of endless jokes around the world. Put her butt in jail already, move the action to the site of the jail downtown, and give ME back my freedom!

Happy Birthday Duce

Happy Birthday Duce!  One Year Old Today!
Duce had a party on Sunday. All his dog and people friends came by for the festivities. There were games and cookies and cake and lots of fun! Each dog left tired and dirty and that, perhaps, was best of all!
It is wonderful to be a one year Entlebucher boy in California!!

Duce Does Newport.....

This week I had a wonderful adventure cruising around Newport Harbor in Orange County. FunZone Cruises accepts dogs on their ships, so I got to go on my first boat ride! Not only did I see all the expensive waterfront mansions belonging to people like Nicholas Cage and Cyndi Lauper. I also saw the sailboat and the waterfront home of John Wayne. The highlight of the cruise was getting up close and personal with the sea lions who were sunning themselves on the buoys out in the ocean and having lots of fun in the water. Guess what? They bark more than I do! There's not many animals that can make that claim.  I had a wonderful time! Can we go see the sea lions again??!!

Flying with the Swiss Air Force

Here's another video off of youtube with more extreme flying by the Swiss Air Force.

I cannot imagine what the reaction is by farmers down below when these guys streak by.  You gotta love them!

I've been told by some Swiss, that the Air Force cannot use the larger, higher altitude jets. By the time those aircraft reach crusing speed, they've gone over the border! Instead, the faster, smaller jets are perfect for manuvering the Alps.

Most of these pilots, after military service, are employed by their national airline, Swiss International Airlines. Should make you feel secure onboard their flights....

My Favorite Things as listed by Duce

As that song goes, here are a few of my favorite things:

  1. Watching the water go down the toilet bowl
  2. Leaving some toys in every room of the house. Always prepared.
  3. Standing underfoot in the kitchen in case some food should happen to fall
  4. Tug-of-war and more tug-of-war. It is even better if someone can lift me off the ground and swing me around while I am still hanging on.
  5. Riding shotgun in the passenger seat of the car. I don't want to miss a thing unless it is hot. Then I retreat under the dashboard for some air conditioning.
  6. Going through the fast food drive in. Need I elaborate?
  7. Going through any and all piles of dirt and dust checking for any overlooked crumbs of food.
  8. Chewing any and all paper I happen to find - including checks, envelopes, dryer sheets, and bills. Paper is mmmmm good!
  9. Crows. Yes, as in the big black birds. They are fascinating.
  10. Doggie Beach
  11. My squeaky rubber sneaker toy. I have gone through three now. I can also sound alot like Harpo Marx with it.
  12. My Girlfriends: Maggie, Millie, L'il Maggie, and Isabella
  13. Food: REAL meat: chicken and beef, (I get a BIG energy rush afterwards), ReddiWhip, Cheese, Pizza...well, almost anything unless it is that healthy stuff
  14. Sleeping on the air conditoning vents in the house.  This prevents any cool air from reaching anyone else, but it sure feels good!

Cattle Show in Appenzell

It is AMAZING what you can find on www.youtube.com.

Here is another of our favorite videos - a cattle show and auction in Appenzell Switzerland. Be sure to see the local costumes and those cow bells! A nice touch is also the relaxation time in the local pub. However, I can only find one Appi dog in the video. He runs past about 10 seconds into the video. This video is as Switzerland as it gets!
